Think Spain is only about the sea and beaches? Think again. Mountain lovers can also enjoy plenty of winter fun in the snow. Today (December 5th), the Sierra Nevada ski resort opens to the public, and it takes only about an hour and a half to get there by car.
The winter season will be kicked off by the chairlift at the Emile Allais slope, while beginner-friendly runs such as Borreguiles and El Bosque will also open to visitors. In addition to skiing, visitors can go sledding or try the special “inflatable doughnuts” near the Veleta lift and in the Mirlo Blanco area in Pradollano. As weather conditions allow, more slopes will gradually open throughout the season (there are 133 in total).
A one-day adult ski pass costs around €30 (approximately CZK 750). At that price, in Špindlerův Mlýn this year only juniors under 17 can ski for a similar amount. This season, you might want to swap the Alps for Sierra Nevada—you won’t regret it. Just like we at Viva España say :)
