WHY MOVE TO LA DUQUESA?
Le Duquesa is close to Marbella, Sotogrande and Gibraltar, but with its own cool and lush charm, it is one of the Costa del Sol's best-kept secrets.
Recently awarded the blue flag, La Duquesa is popular with both - boat owners and tourists.
Lined with beaches on both sides: Playa de las Gaviotas and Playa del Castillo in the west, and Playa Sabinillas, the fishing villages of Sabinillas and Castillo de la Duquesa (named after the castle from 1767) are worth seeing.
Behind the harbour, you can find La Duquesa’s Golf and Country Club that has an 18-hole golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. Alcaidesa Links overlooking Gibraltar Rock with Heathland, Valderrama, Sotogrande, La Reserva, La Cañada and San Roque.
POPULATION
Unlike many places on the Costa del Sol, La Duquesa is only busy during the summer. The rest of the time it remains a stylish, authentic Spanish city. There is an foreign community made up mostly of British, Irish and Scandinavians.
ESTATE
Most urbanizations surround a golf course, offering a combination of townhouses and apartments with community pools. Further inland are villas with private gardens and swimming pools, or you can live in the very center of the city.
PUBLIC FACILITIES
Port services cover berths for ships up to 20 meters, refueling, washing equipment, satellite TV, 24-hour surveillance, electricity and water.
Marbella's Puerto Banus is about a 30-minute drive away, with shopping areas of Puerto Banus, El Corte Inglés and Marina Banus. The huge shopping mall La Cañada is located in Marbella. There are also plenty of shops, supermarkets and banks in town.
TRANSPORT
La Duquesa is about an hour's drive from Malaga and a 45-minute drive from Gibraltar Airport. It is on the Estepona – La Linea bus route (to Gibraltar).

La Duquesa is a great place for people who are planning to work in Gibraltar, Marbella or Sotogrande but want to live in a quieter place.
PUBLIC HEALTH
There are many health care providers in the city, both public and private. The nearest health centre and dentist are in Sabinillas on the San Luis de Sabinillas road.
EDUCATION
The closest international school is Sotogrande, a highly successful school with excellent teachers and equipment. There are several Spanish schools to choose from between Manila, Sabinillas and Castillo de la Duquesa.
